2020 Monopolio Pinot Nero Trevenezie IGT

$39.00

Rich ruby-red in colour, the bouquet is fruity, intense and elegant with violet and red fruit scents. The wine is dry, well-balanced with a pleasant maraschino cherry finish.

Cantina di Gambellara

Cantina di Gambellara, the first cooperative winery in the province of Vicenza, was established in 1947 on the ashes of the previous winery called Enopolio di Gambellara, datng back to 1920. Enopolio translates as ‘monopoly,’ a name that emphasises the monopoly of the Gambellara DOC denomination in this area. Gambellara is a land of basalt, dark rocks and an extinct volcano that have characterised the area and added great aromatic finesse to the wines.

Located at the border between Vicenza and Verona, Gambellara is situated on the last spur of the Lessini mountains — they look like soft waves — at an altitude between 250 and 350 meters. They are covered by vines and lush valleys and crossed by several waterways. In geological terms, the area is of volcanic origin with basaltic soils conforming to the form of earthy and friable tuffs, which offer natural fertility particularly favourable to vine-growing, as well as a high mineral content that gives the wine its extraordinary accents. The area where vineyards are currently cultivated extends for about thousand hectares of predominantly hilly area, most of which are in the so-called “classic” region, the oldest area of provenance.
