Yarra Valley Winery Lunch with a View

Plenty of Yarra Valley restaurants promise a vineyard outlook. At Ai Fiori, the vines surround you. Our dining room and deck look straight across the Hexham vineyard to the Warramate Hills, and we are one of the few Yarra Valley restaurants lunch guests can visit every day of the year, bar two.

If you’re searching for Yarra Valley restaurants with a view, the formula is simple: honest northern Italian cooking from Chef Jak, whose plates have fed Melbourne for more than 30 years, matched with our easy-drinking d'Soumah range grown metres from your table. Pour a glass of the Ai Fiori Rosato that shares our name, keep it classic with the d'Soumah Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, or lean Italian with the Nebbiolo Bianco, Barbera Nebbiolo and gently sparkling Brachetto Frizzante

Come for a quick woodfired pizza with a flute of NV Blanc de Blanc, or settle in for a long Yarra Valley lunch that drifts well into the afternoon. This is a Yarra Valley restaurant that rewards lingering.

Experience a Lunch Yarra Valley Locals Recommend

A Yarra Valley winery lunch at Ai Fiori starts the way it should: a tasting at the cellar door, a table with a view, and a menu built around our own bottles.

Locals regularly mention us when talk turns to the best restaurants Yarra Valley has to offer, and one national travel guide has named Soumah among its picks for casual winery dining in the region. If you are chasing the best winery lunch Yarra Valley can serve without white tablecloths or a two-month waitlist, order the prosciutto pizza, a bowl of handmade pasta and a glass of Savarro.

We are also one of the winery restaurants Yarra Valley day trippers plan whole routes around, ten minutes from Healesville and an hour from Melbourne. So if you have ever searched for winery restaurants near me from the city's east, the answer has been sitting in Gruyere all along.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of food does Ai Fiori Trattoria serve?

Northern Italian, cooked generously. Signatures include:

  • Rustic woodfired pizzas straight from the oven
  • Hearty handmade pastas that change with the seasons
  • Antipasti and cheese boards made for sharing over a glass
  • Decadent desserts from a chef with a patisserie background
What are your lunch hours?

We serve lunch from 11.30am to 4pm, seven days a week, closing only on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Do I need to book a table?

Bookings are strongly recommended, especially on weekends and public holidays when tables fill quickly. Please note the $40 per adult minimum food spend on weekends and holidays, along with a 10% weekend and 20% public holiday surcharge. For groups of 10 to 20, call us on 03 5962 4716 so we can look after you properly.

Is Ai Fiori a traditional Italian restaurant Yarra Valley visitors would recognise?

Yes, in the truest sense: a trattoria is Italy's relaxed, family-style eatery, and that is exactly the spirit here. Generous plates, regional northern Italian recipes and wine from the vineyard outside the window. Judge for yourself whether that makes us the best restaurant Yarra Valley can claim; we would rather let the pasta argue our case.

Can we do a wine tasting before lunch?

Absolutely, and we recommend it. Arrive early for a Classic, Italian or Premium tasting at the cellar door, find your favourites, then order them by the glass or bottle with your meal.

What is the Piazza Bar?

The Piazza Bar is our casual outdoor space overlooking the vines, serving antipasti, woodfired pizza, cheese boards and desserts. It is dog friendly, no bookings required, and perfect when you want a lighter, laid-back visit.

Do you host groups and celebrations?

Yes, and there are a few ways to do it:

  • Group lunches for 10 to 20 guests on our enclosed deck, with two or three course menus
  • Celebration lunches with a wine tasting and glass of wine included
  • Exclusive evening hire of the whole venue for up to 60 guests
