[2018 Vintage] – 94 Points by Campbell Mattinson, 2021 Halliday Wine Companion
“Deep and rich ruby red hue. Ripe nose with blackcurrant, mocha, and anise aromatics. Full bodied but with a silken glide to its black fruit core. Tannins are supple and gently guide it long to a building savoury finish that shows cured meats, nori, and pepper spices. An intriguing blend that works very well. 93 Points.”
Stuart Knox for The Real Review, October 2023 [2021 Vintage]
“A delightful red of immediate drinkability and sense of uniqueness. Punchy perfume with pickled cherry, woody spice, green herbs, cranberry and pomegranate juice going on. Similar flavours in a medium weight, spice-laden flavour profile, shimmies along with cool acidity and finds a fine web of lacy tannin to boot. 93 Points.”
Mike Bennie for WBM, October 2023 [2021 Vintage]
“Bright and fruity nose of blackcurrants, raspberries, blackberries, rose hips and dried flowers. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and bright acidity. Deliciously fresh and moreish. 92 Points.”
JamesSuckling.com, October 2022 [2020 Vintage]
“Matured in 25% new oak. Tasted shortly after it was bottled, but gee it looked good. A more restrained, tighter style, although certainly full of vibrant fruit. It has come together well. Cherry and red plums, peppery and powered ginger in the mix, citrus peel and licorice root. Savoury through and through. Fuller bodied, with lots of detail across the palate, led by finely chiselled tannins. 95 Points.”
Jane Faulkner, 2022 Halliday Wine Companion, August 2021 [2020 Vintage]
“Yarra Valley/Heathcote. It’s a slightly burlier red than this blend might have you expect, but it’s well balanced, well made and looks set to go well in the cellar. Red and black berries, jubey aspects, florals, woodsy spices and malt. It’s not thick or heavy but it feels strong. 94 Points.”
Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion, August 2020 [2018 Vintage]
2021
Winter was wetter and warmer than the 25-year average, building the water table with spring cooler than normal, slowing down the vegetative cycle. These coolness persisted into summer with some abnormal drenching rains in January adding to the mild temperatures. February witnessed no rain to speak of setting up for a calm harvest
through March. The crop was slightly heavier than normal due to January rain although the crunch of natural acidity from a cooler season helped set up good natural fermentation and ultimate wine balance.

Experience This Wine
This wine displays ripe blackberry and dense spice on the nose, with hints of lifted blackcurrant and wild herbs. The palate is refined but intense with juicy red fruit flavours balanced by lengthy tannins and a smooth, rich finish.
A juicy T-Bone steak with hearty roasted vegetables and a red wine jus.
Here we combine the finesse of the Yarra Valley and the depth and richness of Heathcote. The Syrah delivers the fruit, the Cabernet infuses a savoury focus and the Nebbiolo brings it all together with elegant structure.
