“It comes from northeastern Italy around Isera, south of Trentino. The variety was mentioned in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and I confess I haven’t seen that either. The colour is deep purple, yet the palate is supple, bright and with a lightness of touch with a delicious plummy fruit character. I like this style, the tannins are soft, the oak is understated and yet the fruit still has presence and poise.
